McAfee & Taft, ADP to present workshop on medical marijuana

August 22, 2018
Medicinal Marijuana is soon to be a reality in Oklahoma...are you prepared?

With the passage of SQ788, medicinal marijuana is on its way to Oklahoma. Beginning Aug. 25, applications for medical marijuana licenses will be available for completion and submission to the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Just as college football season is getting underway the first of those licenses could be granted, making medicinal marijuana in the workplace a reality.

With numerous rule revisions and legal challenges underway, it may be a struggle for employers in the Oklahoma oil and natural gas industry to identify and implement the Human Resource policies and procedures needed. That's why the OIPA is teaming up with McAfee & Taft and ADP on a workshop to address these challenges and provide OIPA members and their employees with a game plan on how they can respond.

The workshop will be on Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the OIPA headquarters, 500 N.E. 4th Street in Oklahoma City.

At this four-hour workshop, participants will study the following components needed to implement appropriate HR changes in response to medicinal marijuana:

Core components of the current medicinal marijuana law
Effective dates of implementation
Recommended HR policies and procedures
Training opportunities for supervisors and managers
Appropriate responses to expected challenges

Registration is $50 for OIPA members and their employees, and covers all course materials, lunch and a Certificate of Completion for Continuing Education Credit.

For additional information on this workshop, please contact OIPA Manager of Learning and Member Benefits Phil Browder at 405-601-2838 or email at
