New Yorkers go crazy for fracking

November 12, 2009
A New York City public hearing on natural gas drilling descends into chaos. Maybe it is true if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.

Seconds after the first speaker took the podium at a New york City Department of Environmental Conservation hearing, a man jumped on stage ans started shouting.

"We want a statewide ban!" he screamed. "The gas drilling is dangerous!"

Officers escorted the shouter off the stage, and the crowd stood and screamed, waving anti-drilling signs.

Scott Rotruck, Chesapeake's vice president of corporate development, was booed often when he spoke, and other industry reps who had planned to make comments at the hearing left without doing so.

So, it's pretty clear New Yorkers don't want natural gas production in their state. But at least their creative about it.
